Essendon tried hard to peg the Magpies back in the second half before going down 22.10 (142) to 11.7 (73) in front of 85,082 fans at headquarters.
The record margin in Anzac Day matches between the two sides had been a 73-point win to Collingwood in 2008, and the Magpies led by 76 points at the main break.
The Bombers equalled the Pies' output in the third term, with the sides kicking 5.2 apiece, and John Worsfold's men managed to win the final quarter four goals to three, but Collingwood still came away with a big win.
Steele Sidebottom and Alex Fasolo kicked four goals each for Collingwood, while Orazio Fantasia and Sam Grimley booted two each for Essendon.
Sidebottom also racked up 33 disposals, seven marks, four tackles, five rebound 50s and four inside 50s and was unsurprisingly named as the Anzac Medallist.
The loss keeps the Bombers at 1-4, while Collingwood improves to 2-3.
More to come.
