We’re finally getting our first real look at Antoine Fuqua’s highly anticipated remake of The Magnificent Seven, and of course, there's no shortage of gunslinging. Denzel Washington stars as Sam Chisolm (based on Yul Brynner's Chris Larabee Adams in the 1960 version), a bounty hunter who takes on the job of defending a small town against a pack of murderous outlaws led by Peter Sarsgaard. He recruits quite the bunch to help him do so, including Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
The original Magnificent Seven was itself based on Akira Kurosawa’s classic Seven Samurai, so the bar has been set pretty high. Fortunately, the trailer hints at a nice balance between action, humor, and plenty of swagger. Plus, another Fuqua and Washington pairing (following Training Day and The Equalizer) is sure to yield some memorable moments. The film is set to hit theaters September 23.
